WhatsApp Group Video, Voice Calling Feature Rolled Out for Android, iOS Users

WhatsApp Group Video, Voice Calling Feature Rolled Out for Android, iOS Users

whatsapp, group video, calling, android, iOS
WhatsApp group calling feature with both voice and video support is finally live. First discovered back in October last year, group calling on the Facebook-owned messaging app was officially announced by Facebook at its annual F8 developer conference in May this year. The new WhatsApp feature is now available for users around the world on iOS and Android. Notably, the group calling feature supports up to four people at the same time. WhatsApp users are claimed to be spending over 2 billion minutes on calls per day, meaning the group video calls was a highly-anticipated feature.

Video calls have been supported by WhatsApp since 2016, but until now they were limited to two participants. The app is now starting to add group video calling to its iOS and Android app and it supports up to four people, the company has announced. WhatsApp says that the new feature is engineered to work under slow network conditions. Additionally, calls are end-to-end encrypted, like all chats on the messaging app.
In order to start a group call, start a video or voice call with one of the contacts. Following this, you will see a button at the top-right corner of the screen that will let you add another participant to the call. Once the call gets connected, an Add Person icon is shown on the top right, above the names of the recipient. Next, if the third user accepts the call, both the names will be shown with a comma separating them. You will be able to add up to three participants for a total of four people in a video or voice call. Do note that you need to download the latest version of the WhatsApp app via Google Play Store and Apple App Store.

In comparison, Facebook Messenger supports group video calls of up to 50 and Skype supports 25. Meanwhile, Snapchat supports 16 participants and Apple's FaceTime will work with up to 32 people when iOS 12 launches later this year.

Huawei Plans to Launch Foldable Smartphone Before Samsung: Report

Huawei Plans to Launch Foldable Smartphone Before Samsung: Report

huawei, gadgets, mobiles, andriod
Huawei may beat Samsung in the race to launch the world's first truly foldable smartphone. A foldable smartphone by Samsung has been a part of the rumour mill for over two years now, with the company in recent months confirming that it would be bringing the smartphone to market this year, adding it would not be a gimmick. Reports have indicated however that the South Korean giant is expected to launch the handset in 2019, but recent reports had suggested that it won't be called with the moniker Galaxy X. Samsung may launch the foldable handset with a Galaxy F brand name. Whatever the case be, the Galaxy foldable phone may not be the first phone of its kind as Chinese manufacturer Huawei is now said to be planning to beat Samsung to the market.
As per a Nikkei report out of China, Huawei has partnered with BOE Technology Group for supplying it with flexible OLED display for its premium foldable smartphone. The report claims that the first batch of foldable handsets by Huawei will include a small number of units with an aim to beat Samsung. An unnamed person familiar with the plans of Huawei has reportedly informed that the company will be manufacturing around 20,000 to 30,000 units for the initial buyers. Apart from Huawei's ambitions to beat Samsung to the market, the report does not provide too many additional details.
The Huawei foldable phone will hit the market by "very early 2019," according to Yuanta Investment Consulting analyst Jeff Pu. "The Chinese company wants to be the first in the industry even if the display technology from its panel supplier might not be that ready like Samsung," he was quoted as saying. The launch date of the handset will depend on the development of the technology and the durability of the foldable panels, the report noted.
When it comes to BOE, the report says it is heavily subsidised by the government and is "already the world's leading large-panel maker for TV screens." It is aggressively venturing into producing OLED displays, the report added.
Notably, the report has not revealed any price details for the mysterious Huawei phone, but a WitsView analyst claims that profitability isn't a major concern for this project. "Profitability for this project is not the first priority for the two Chinese companies," Eric Chiou said.
This is not the first time that Huawei is being reported to be working on a foldable smartphone of its own. Earlier this year, the Chinese smartphone giant was said to have partnered with LG Electronics to develop a handset that can fold inwards giving it a more compact form factor.
As it is right now, there are no real foldable handsets in the market. To be fair, ZTE did launch the Axon M foldable smartphone late last year, but that featured two different displays with a hinge in between. Interestingly, the report also claims that claims Samsung's foldable phone will be "no thicker than an iPhone 8 or 8 Plus" and sport a 7.3-inch screen when fully open.

The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) has extended the due date for filing of Income Tax Returns from July 31, 2018, to August 31, 2018, for certain categories of taxpayers.

The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) has extended the due date for filing of Income Tax Returns to August 31, 2018, for categories of taxpayers who were to file their returns by July 31.

The decision comes days ahead of the July 31 deadline, which several groups had requested the government to push to later.

CBDT had notified the new income tax return forms for assessment year 2018-19 on April 5. Experts said the introduction of new forms was leading to delays in filing of returns.

Further, the CBDT had said non-filing of ITR before the due date from this assessment year would lead to a penalty of Rs 1,000, 5,000 and Rs 10,000, depending on when the returns were filed after the deadline. The fine for taxpayers having income under Rs 5 lakh remained at Rs 1,000.
If you are still unclear in choosing the appropriate ITR for disclosing your income earned during the previous year, here’s a quick guide on the various ITR forms.

ITR-4 SUGAM:

It is for resident taxpayers (Individual, HUF, Firm other than LLP), who have opted for presumptive income scheme as laid down under section 44AD, 44ADA and 44AE of the Income Tax Act, 1961.

ITR-5:

This form can be used by a person being a Firm, Limited Liability Partnerships (LLP), AOP/BOI, Private discretionary trust, an Artificial juridical person referred to in section 2(31)(vii), Cooperative Society and Local authority.

ITR-6:

This form is being used by Company, other than a company claiming exemption under section 11 of the Income Tax Act. The ITR also introduces a new Schedule for Ind AS Compliant companies wherein they are required to disclose the balance sheet and P/L account in the same format as prescribed under the Companies Act, 2013

ITR-7:

Required to be filed when individuals including companies fall under section 139(4A) or 139(4B) or 139(4C) or 139(4D) or 139(4E) or 139(4F). This ITR form is basically meant for trusts claiming exemptions u/s 11 of the Act, Political party, Mutual funds, Securitization trust, and other specified assesses.

Oneplus3, Oneplus 3T Get oxygen OS 5.0.4 Update wuth july Security patch, Improve selfie Quality
Oneplus 3 and OnePlus 3T, on their way to obsolescence, have received the latest OxygenOS 5.0.4 software update. This version brings the much-anticipated July 2018 Android security update to the two smartphones, so does it bring bug fixes for the native camera app and two third-party apps - namely, WhatsApp and Snapchat. To recall, earlier this month, the company announced that the last stable update for the OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T would be coming later this month. This is not that update, the company clarified. The company states that the OxygenOS 5.0.4 update comes with the July security patch, but the setting incorrectly reflects security patch as June due to an incorrect string (typo). File size of the update is around 95MB. The OTA update will be available under Settings > System Updates.
As per the changelog reported via a forum post, the OxygenOS 5.0.4 update brings improved image quality to the selfie camera and a fix for manual ISO setting issue of third-party camera apps. Apart from that, it comes with a fix for parallel WhatsApp crash issue and a fix for front camera zoom-in issues on Snapchat.
"This OTA will have a staggered rollout, the OTA will be received by a limited number of users today and will have a broader rollout in a few days after making sure there are no critical bugs, so using VPN to download this build might not work as the rollout is not based on regions and is randomly pushed out to a limited number of devices," said Manu J, Staff Member, Beta Program and Developer Relations, OnePlus.
As for this not being the last stable update, a OnePlus staff member states, "Hey everyone, this won't be the last update for OnePlus 3 and 3T users. We fully understand you guys are eagerly waiting for some big changes. Please be patient and relax, everything will be alright. We will share more details very soon."
For OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T users running an open beta version of OxygenOS, a fresh install will be required, including a complete cache and data wipe.
To recap, the two phones had received the OxygenOS 5.0.3 update back in May this year. The update brought features such as Face Unlock, a refined shelf UI design, new design for app shortcuts, and pop-up actions when an app is long pressed.

Jio has announced a new cashback to boost the sales of its JioFi portable 4G router. Under this offer, customers will get cashback of Rs. 500, which brings down the effective price of the JioFi device to Rs. 499. In September last year, Jio had slashed the price of the portable router from Rs. 1,999 to Rs. 999. To avail the new cashback offer, users must purchase a new JioFi unit, and those who already have the device are not eligible for it. The offer will become effective from July 3, and there is no last date revealed so far.

After the 12-month period is over, they will get Rs. 500 cashback in the form of credit which will be adjusted against the next bill cycles. For those unaware, Jio postpaid plan at Rs. 199 offers 25GB of data and free voice calls, unlimited SMS messages, and premium subscriptions to Jio apps to consumers.

Vodafone has rolled out a new Rs. 299 Basic pack under its Red postpaid plans. The latest offer comes on the heels of the telco revamping its Red postpaid plans that now offer unlimited calls and more data to users in a bid to counter Reliance Jio. While Vodafone is offering Amazon Prime membership and Netflix subscription with most of its Vodafone Red postpaid plans, the new plan comes with its own set of offerings. The Red Basic postpaid plan worth Rs. 299 provides Vodafone subscribers with 20GB of 3G/ 4G data, unlimited voice calls, and more.
The new Rs. 299 Vodafone Red Basic postpaid plan is the company's cheapest offering in the series. Apart from the data benefits, Vodafone is offering unlimited voice calling, free incoming and outgoing on roaming, and 100 SMS messages (local and STD). Notably, there is data rollover benefit up to 50GB under the plan. Also, Vodafone subscribers who purchase this pack will get a free subscription to Vodafone Play for 12 months. Vodafone says that the total free benefits under the Rs. 299 Red Basic plan is worth Rs. 2,400. It is worth noting that the plan can currently only be availed via the My Vodafone app, as it is not visible on the company's site.
While the Vodafone Red plans priced between Rs. 399 and Rs. 2,999 now come with various offers such as Bill Guarantee for free of cost, Mobile Shield, Red Hot Deals, Amazon and Netflix subscriptions, the Rs. 299 Red Basic plan does not offer them. As mentioned, the Vodafone Red Basic plan is available on the Vodafone mobile app and it can be found under Active Packs and Plans > Browse other plans.
To recall, Vodafone's recently updated Red postpaid plans include Red Entertainment, Red Entertainment+, Red - International R, Red - International L, and Vodafone Red - Signature. All Vodafone Red postpaid plans now offer a free 12-month subscription to Amazon Prime, a yearly membership for Vodafone Play, and access to free vouchers every month. Some of the costlier plans come with a free subscription to Netflix's library of movies, TV shows, and documentaries.
For comparison, Jio has a Rs. 199 postpaid plan that gives the user a total of 25GB 4G data, free unlimited voice calls, 100 SMS messages, and complimentary access to Jio's entire suite of apps for a standard bill cycle. Users can avail additional data at Rs. 20 per GB for the next 500GB. This plan entails a security deposit of Rs. 250 which is 100 percent refundable, and Jio Prime membership worth Rs. 99.
